MetroAtlanta Ambulance Service Provides EMS Coverage for the 2008 Aids Walk Atlanta
On Sunday, October 19, 2008, MetroAtlanta Ambulance Service provided ALS ambulance coverage as thousands of individuals, organizations and corporations united in the spirit of caring and giving by participating in the largest and most visible fundraising event for AIDS in the southeast, AIDS Walk Atlanta. Funds raised from the event will make it possible for AID Atlanta and 9 other AIDS service organizations to continue working to stop the spread of HIV and transform the lives of those living with the disease. The event took place at Piedmont Park and Grady High School in the City of Atlanta and was hosted by AID Atlanta, the largest non-profit community based HIV/AIDS service organization in the Southeast United States serving more than 80,000 Georgians.

MetroAtlanta Provides Medical Coverage at Marietta First United Methodist Church's 175th Anniversary Service
For more than 175 Years Marietta First United Methodist Church has been spreading the gospel in Marietta, Georgia and on October 19, 2008, the congregation gathered outside in a new park to celebrate and dedicate what they had done in response to God’s goodness. In 175 days, the Church transformed an overgrown wooded area on Polk Street into a beautiful park for the community to enjoy. Adjacent to the park they built an exact replica of the first log cabin church that was occupied by Marietta FUMC in 1833. The cabin will be used for various events throughout the year. MetroAtlanta Ambulance assisted in the celebration by providing standby medical services throughout the afternoon as thousands of members and visitors, young and old enjoyed the magnificence of God’s creation and celebrated Marietta First United Methodist’s 175th Anniversary.

MetroAtlanta Ambulance Service provided coverage for the 2008 "Wings Over Marietta" Air Show and Open House at Dobbins Air Reserve Base
MetroAtlanta Ambulance Service provided EMS coverage for the 2008 "Wings Over Marietta" Air Show and Open House at Dobbins Air Reserve Base on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 18 – 19 as Team Dobbins welcomed thousands of aviation lovers from the Metro Atlanta area and beyond to see a wide variety of military and civilian aerial and aerobatic performances, including the Air Force's premier aerial demonstration team, the Thunderbirds. Several aircraft and equipment were on static display along with a variety of refreshments and souvenirs. MetroAtlanta Ambulance Service stationed three ALS ambulance units at the event and utilized the MAAS Medical Cart to respond to emergency requests on the tarmac. Cobb & Douglas Public Health Center for Emergency Preparedness and Response Director, Pam Blackwell, RN, stated, “Metro Atlanta Ambulance Service is such a pleasure to work with in planning for these events. They integrate well with other coordinating and response agencies and have a proven and successful track record of handling these large events. I never worry about EMS response because I know the MetroAtlanta Team will take care of business when an emergency call comes in.”

Metro Atlanta Ambulance Service Provides EMS and Medical Coverage for the 2008 Atlanta Pride Festival
MetroAtlanta Ambulance provided EMS and medical coverage to the Atlanta Pride Festival held this year on July 4th weekend at the Boisfeuillet Jones Atlanta Civic Center on Piedmont Avenue, a new location for the event for the first time in nearly 20 years. The festival is the third largest Pride Event in the nation attracting more than 300,000 people to commemorate the June 28, 1969 raid at the Stonewall Inn in New York City, an event that touched off three days of riots and serves as the symbolic start of the gay civil rights movement. MetroAtlanta Ambulance’s Vice President Devan Seabaugh stated, “ This was the first year that Atlanta Pride held the festival at a venue other than Piedmont Park and the first time EMS was asked to provide medical coverage in addition to ambulance services for the event so it required some additional planning and coordination on our part to ensure the medical safety of everyone in attendance. We set up first aid/water stations and strategically deployed our ambulances, medical cart and EMS bike teams throughout the venue so we could get to all areas of the venue quickly when we needed to. The Atlanta Pride Committee, Atlanta Civic Center, Atlanta Police and Atlanta Fire Department personnel where great to work with and for all involved I’d say the event was a great success.”

MetroAtlanta Participates in the Marietta City Schools "Rock 'N' Read" Kick-Off Event
MetroAtlanta Ambulance particpated in the Marietta City Schools "Rock 'N' Read" Kick-Off Event at the town square in the City of Marietta. MetroAtlanta had an Ambulance on display in the "Hereo's Corner" and medics talked about EMS and read stories to more than 100 kids throughout the afternoon.

MetroAtlanta Ambulance Service provided medical coverage for U.S. Vice President, Dick Cheney's visit to Cobb County. Metro Atlanta Vice President/COO Mike Jernigan stated, "Fortunately it was an uneventful day as far as the need for our professional services but being a part of the Vice President's motorcade and working closely with the secret service was an experience our staff will remember for years to come.?

Metro Atlanta Ambulance supports the Cobb County Make-A-Wish 5K Run
Metro Atlanta Ambulance proudly support the Annual Cobb County Make-A-Wish 5K Run through historic Marietta on October 18, 2003. In conjunction with Marietta Fire & EMS, Metro Atlanta will be providing medical coverage for the event. Metro Atlanta VP Devan Seabaugh stated, "this is a great event for Cobb County and the Make-A-Wish Foundation is truely making a diffence in the lives of some special children in our community".

Cobb Chamber of Commerce ?Tribute to Public Safety?
Metro Atlanta Ambulance is a sponsor for the Cobb Chamber of Commerce ?Tribute to Public Safety? breakfast to be held at the Galleria Center on October 6, 2003. The breakfast will recognize and honor the public safety professionals of Cobb County and award the Cobb County Public Safety Employee of the Year.

Girl Scout Troop 4427 Tours Metro Atlanta Ambulance Headquarters
Troop Leader Bonnie Looney and Girl Scout Troop 4427 from Soap Creek Elementary school toured Metro Atlanta Ambulance Headquarters and got a hands on demonstration with Field Supervisor, Dennis Westover on what it's like to be a patient in an ambulance and too, what it's like work as an Emergency Medical Technician and EMS Dispatcher.

2003 Cherokee County Christian Music Festival
Metro Atlanta Ambulance provided medical coverage to the Christian Music Festival at Hopewell Baptist Church in neighboring Cherokee County.

Kiwanis Club of Marietta ?Field of Flags Tribute?
Metro Atlanta Ambulance Vice President, Devan Seabaugh, coordinated an effort of the Marietta Kiwanis Club to erect more than 3000 flags in the Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park in tribute to all Americans that have lost their lives in the fight for freedom, the victims of September 11, 2001 and to honor the men and women of public safety that lay their lives on the line each day. Metro Atlanta Ambulance was a financial sponsor of the event and provided medical coverage for the memorial service that evening.

MetroAtlanta Ambulance Service was asked to provide medical coverage for the 2003 Inauguration Ceremony for Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue.
MetroAtlanta Ambulance Service provided medical coverage for the 2003 Governors Reception and Inauguration Ceremonies January 12th and 13th in Atlanta. Metro Atlanta vice president and Chief Operations Officer, Mike Jernigan stated, ?We were honored to be asked to provide coverage for this important event. Fortunately other than a few minor injuries, it was uneventful as far as the need for our services but our staff will remember the experience for years to come.?

Atlanta Falcons Youth Flag Football
The Atlanta Falcons Youth Foundation has contracted with MetroAtlanta Ambulance Service to provide on-site first aid and ambulance coverage for the Falcons Youth Foundation annual Youth Flag Football Game.

Memorial to Victims of Sept 11th Attacks-Georgia Memorial Park
MetroAtlanta Ambulance employees will gather with other public safety organizations and the citizens of Cobb County in a ceremony honoring those who tragically lost their lives in the attack on our Country on September 11, 2002. Georgia Memorial Park will unveil a monument that will be permanently erected in honor of those who paid the ultimate price as an American citizen. At exactly 10:05 am, the time that the North Tower of the World Trade Center collapsed, all flags throughout the United States will be lowered to half-mast. At 10:28 am, the time that the South Tower of the World Trade Center collapsed, all flags will be raised back to full mast and all Public Safety units throughout the United States will sound their sirens in honor of the Medics, Fire Fighters and Police Officers lost that day.

City of Marietta-September 11th Memorial
MetroAtlanta Ambulance will partner with Marietta Fire & EMS to provide medical coverage on the Town Square for the City of Marietta September 11th Memorial and Celebration to honor the victims, families and heroes of the September 11th terror attacks against our nation. Coverage will be provided as in-kind services for the event.

Harrison High School Football
Harrison High School has contracted with MetroAtlanta Ambulance to provide ambulance stand-by for the 2002-2003-football season varsity home games.

Marietta High School Football
Marietta High School has contracted with Metro Atlanta Ambulance to provide ambulance standby for the 2002-2003-football season home games at Northcutt Stadium.

MetroAtlanta Ambulance Service Partners with Pine Forrest Elementary School
Beginning in September, MetroAtlanta Ambulance Service will partner with Pine Forrest Elementary School as a Partner in Education. The program, sponsored by the Cobb Chamber of Commerce is designed to give local business an opportunity to share their expertise, time, ideas, experience and financial support with the faculty, staff and students at local schools. Metro Atlanta Ambulance CEO, Pete Quinones stated, "We are excited about our partnership with the new Pine Forrest Elementary. Our employees are eager to get involved with the kids and Pine Forrest Elementary has a fantastic faculty to work with. We anticipate having a long-term relationship with them and the Cobb Chamber."

Z93 BBQ Classic
MetroAtlanta Ambulance will provide medical coverage and ambulance transportation at the Gwinnett County Fairgrounds on Sugarloaf Parkway at the Z93 BBQ Classic. The event is being sponsored by WZGC-FM.

July 4th Festival
City of Marietta and MetroAtlanta Ambulance Service will partner with Marietta Fire & EMS to ensure the safety for all attending the City of Marietta 4th of July Festival on the town square. The festivities will begin with a parade down Roswell Street and culminate late in the evening with an exciting Fireworks Extravaganza. Metro Vice President Devan Seabaugh, stated, ?We anticipate a lot of heat-related illnesses due to the extreme climate. Marietta Fire & EMS will have their bicycle paramedic team in place and we will have a gas powered golf cart designed for EMS use so that we can easily maneuver through the crowds if an emergency situation occurs.? The event is expected to attract over 50,000 people.

Boy Scouts of America
Local Boy Scout Troops visited MetroAtlanta Ambulance?s operations center on June 9, 2002. The young men sat in the Dispatch Operations Center and learned how the EMS system is set into motion when someone Dials 911. They toured the ambulances and Metro Paramedics demonstrated various pieces of equipment utilized in the field for treating traumatic injuries

American Cancer Society-Relay for Life
MetroAtlanta Ambulance Service will partner with Cobb County Fire and Emergency Services to provide medical standby at Jim Miller Park, May 17th and 18th for the American Cancer Society?s Relay for Life. The Relay is expected to attract several thousand people for a 24 hour walk-a-thon. The Relay for Life is one of the American Cancer Society?s largest fundraisers.

Cystic Fibrosis Walk-a-Thon
MetroAtlanta provided ambulance coverage for the 2002 Cystic Fibrosis Walk-a-Thon. MetroAtlanta employees have formed a team and raised money to support the event in honor of Sarah O?Neill the daughter of MetroAtlanta Operations Supervisor, Dave O?Neill. Sarah was diagnosed with CF in September of 1990. Dave O?Neill stated, ?The management, staff and employees of MetroAtlanta have been very supportive of Sarah?s fight against CF. It?s a great feeling to work for a company that truly cares and supports their employees and their activities. Metro employees raised over $4,000 for the Cystic Fibrosis event.

Marietta High School Health Fair
MetroAtlanta medics will host a booth at Marietta High School's Health Fair to perform blood pressure checks and introduce students to the supplies and equipment utilized in pre hospital care. It will be an opportunity for students interested emergency services to get specific answers to their questions about the educational requirements for EMT training, which schools offer EMT programs and what the salary expectations can be.
