In July 2001, the
state of Georgia opened the 9-1-1 Zone for Cobb County to bid
and in September 2001, MetroAtlanta Ambulance was awarded three
of five 9-1-1 zones in Cobb County including the cities of Acworth,
Kennesaw, and Marietta. In 2002, MetroAtlanta Ambulance acquired
Gold Cross EMS and began providing 9-1-1 services to the city
of Smyrna, GA as well.
In 2003, 2004 and 2005 MetroAtlanta Ambulance was recognized
by the Cobb Chamber of Commerce as one of the top 5 small businesses
in Cobb County and in 2006, the Cobb Chamber recognized MetroAtlanta
Ambulance as the 2006 Small Business of the Year.
In 2007, MetroAtlanta Ambulance became one of only 136 ambulance
services in the world and the first in the metro Atlanta area
to receive accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation
of Ambulance Services (CAAS), the gold standard of quality service
in the EMS industry.
What began with 10 employees operating 2 ambulances grew in
less than six years into the largest privately owned ambulance
service in the state of Georgia, now managing a fleet of more
than 50 vehicles and employing more than 180 professional medics
and support personnel.
