On May 22, 2003, Officials from the District III Office of EMS for the State of Georgia hosted a banquet recognizing and honoring EMS professionals from services throughout the greater metro Atlanta area. Cobb County?s 911-ambulance provider, MetroAtlanta Ambulance Service, had 24 employees that were presented the District III EMS ?Star of Life? Award.
The Star of Life Award is presented to EMT?s and Paramedics who successfully resuscitate a pediatric or adult victim who was not breathing and had no pulse upon their arrival on the scene or anytime during treatment or transport. The patient must ultimately be discharged from the hospital in a viable state allowing them to continue leading a productive life.
Receiving the honors for MetroAtlanta Ambulance are Medics, Elesa Sanders, Brad Burkett, Richard Smith, Eric Hogan, Mary Martha Sloan, Ben Volker, Steven Borders, Charles Wann, Jonathan Oliver, Steven Borders, Leigh Johnson, Robyn Davis, Katie Beilman, Lisa Ruckart, George Spradling, Beth Patterson, Marcy Dodd, Steven Borders, William Walthour, Lisa Burrell, Olin Sturdivant, Chandra Evans, Terri Boman, and Craig Watts.
MetroAtlanta Ambulance Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer, Devan Seabaugh stated, ?These people have dedicated their careers to serving the needs of others. Each day they put their health and safety on the line with the reality that their actions will make the difference between someone living and dying. Because of the actions of these employees, the patients survived cardiac arrest and have been given the opportunity to return home to their friends, family and loved ones. They are all Heroes. We are very proud of their accomplishments and we are thankful they?ve chosen to serve in our organization.?
