Disaster Drill Prepares Responders for Quality Response

MetroAtlanta Ambulance Service, along with Decatur Fire and Police Department, Agnes Scott Police Department, DeKalb EMA, and DeKalb Police Special Operation Teams, recently simulated the circumstances of a bomb threat on the campus of Agnes Scott College. The simulated drill was acted upon by the agencies to better prepare them in working together should an actual response be required. On the medical side, MetroAtlanta Ambulance Service coordinated ambulance staging and transport for the simulation while Decatur Fire provided victim extrication and triage. MetroAtlanta Ambulance's Marty Billings stated, "These exercises are a lot of work both in the planning and execution but a necessary part of all successful mitigation and rescue operations. We were pleased to be asked to work with these professionals and know the experience will better prepare us all in the event of an actual emergency".
