PROJECT 2400, created in 2006, is a strategic partnership between the Cobb Chamber of Commerce and the Cobb County and Marietta City school districts to help enhance local students' SAT scores, which is now based on a score of 2400. Cobb County and Marietta City schools fare well compared to other systems in the U.S. and Georgia, however, many students lag behind or miss out on an opportunity to attend their college of choice due to low test scores.
The Cobb Chamber in conjunction with many local area businesses fund Project 2400 to provide an SAT preparation course for students in their junior year of high school.
Devan Seabaugh, MetroAtlanta Ambulance Service Vice-President of Administration and current Chairman of the Cobb Chamber local area council, along with other Chamber Board Members visited with Marietta High School Project 2400 students on Tuesday and surprised them with an after school snack from McDonalds. Seabaugh expressed to the students, the business community’s appreciation for their participation in the program, congratulated the kids on their eagerness to improve their SAT scores and reiterated the fact that a high SAT score will really open the door for greater opportunities when applying for college.
MetroAtlanta Ambulance CEO Pete Quinones stated, “ We’ve been involved with Project 2400 since it’s inception and are happy we can contribute financially as well as volunteer some time to make sure these kids have the resources they need to further their education.” For more information on Project 2400 go to www.cobbchamber.org.
