MetroAtlanta Ambulance Service Receives Prestigious Accreditation by Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems

April 12, 2017- MetroAtlanta Ambulance was recently awarded full accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems at the April 4, 2017 meeting of the Board of Directors.

The Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems is an independent non-profit agency which audits and accredits medical transport services, both private and public, that provide rotor wing, fixed wing, surface, ground ambulance and medical escort services.

The Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems first enacted its Accreditation Standards in 1991 and the Standards are the core element to the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems program, which declares the highest priorities for medical transport service companies are patient care and safety of the transport environment.

MetroAtlanta Ambulance Service joins a distinguished group of less than 255 accredited providers in the world to be awarded accreditation and is the first provider to receive accreditation in the Ground ALS category.

The accreditation process included an offsite survey of company policies, procedures and medical protocols and an on-site survey and a comprehensive review of the company’s operations. The company was evaluated on patient care, safety standards, quality improvement activities, initial and continuing education, equipment, staffing, communications, fleet maintenance and administration.

MetroAtlanta Ambulance President and Chief Executive Pete Quinones stated, “I am proud of our management and staff members and honored our company has received this prestigious accreditation.  It signifies compliance with the medical transportation industry’s high quality standards and is a testament to our staff’s dedication to the safety and quality of services we provide for our employees and to our customers”.
