MetroAtlanta Ambulance to Provide Services in the greater-Savannah area as Coastal EMS

MetroAtlanta Ambulance Service, Georgia’s largest privately owned ambulance service has opened a division in Savannah, Georgia to serve the medical transportation needs of the greater- Savannah area and other counties along the east coast of Georgia.

Coastal EMS, a division of MetroAtlanta Ambulance Service, began providing services in November of last year. Jeannie-Newton Riner, a graduate of Screven County High School and Georgia Southern University has returned to Savannah to serve as the EMS Operations Manager for Coastal EMS.

Coatal EMS has employed 14 medical professionals and a number of support personnel from the local area and has deployed vehicles and equipment to provide quality ambulance and non-ambulance transportation to the residents and visitors of Chatham and surrounding counties.
Ms. Riner stated, “Coastal EMS offers a full line of medical transportation services in Savannah and provides a high quality continuum of care for patients requiring movement from one healthcare facility to another. All of our medics have passed comprehensive pre-employment screenings, an in depth orientation and training program, a driver training program and are now delivering care in line with the industry’s highest quality standards according to the Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services. All of our medics have experience providing Emergency 9-1-1 response and our vehicles carry the most clinically sophisticated, state-of- the-art equipment so we are available to assist the local 9-1-1 provider with mutual aid if they ever call on us to assist. We also have a critical care transport unit capable of handling the most critical patients.”
Coastal EMS is the only provider in the region and one of only four in the state of Georgia to receive the highly respected accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Service (CAAS).

Ms. Riner stated,” Over the past 10 years our parent company operating in the greater-Atlanta area has grown from 10 personnel and 2 ambulances to more than 250 medical personnel and 90 vehicles. They provide 9-1-1 Emergency response to more than 600,000 resident in Cobb County as well as contract transportation and management services to some of Georgia’s largest and most respected healthcare systems. They’ve been recognized as the Small Business of the Year in Cobb County, EMS Service of the Year for EMS Region III twice and in 2010 they were recognized as the EMS Service of the Year for the State of Georgia. They have also received the BB&T Lighthouse Beam Safety Award, John B. O’Neal Pioneer in EMS Award, Mack Henderson Public Service Award, and the Distinguished Service Award by Kiwanis International. I mention that so the residents of Savannah and Chatham County know we are not new to the business, just new in the coastal area of Savannah and we intend to bring the same level of quality and commitment to provide service excellence in patient care and customer service from our operations here in the coastal region. We are excited about getting more involved in the community and working with the local businesses and non-profit agencies in helping make the greater-Savannah area a healthy and safe place to work, live and play.”
