MetroAtlanta Ambulance’s Mark Mathews is Appointed to the Atlanta Regional Commission

Mark Mathews, MetroAtlanta Ambulance's Manager of Government Affairs and lifelong Kennesaw resident, was elected mayor in 2008 after serving 12 years on the Kennesaw City Council. He began his community involvement in 1987 as president of the Kennesaw Springs Homeowners Association and also served on the first boards of the Kennesaw Downtown Development Authority and the Kennesaw Development Authority.

“I am honored to be appointed to the ARC Board of Directors,” said Mathews. “I look forward to looking at the issues Kennesaw has faced for the last 20 years and putting them into regional perspective. I believe that my experience in local government can add to regional conversations, and the opportunities I will have to interact with other regional leaders through through ARC will do nothing but benefit the City of Kennesaw.”

A graduate of ARC’s Regional Leadership Institute, Mathews actively pursues continuing education in municipal management and leadership, having earned a Certificate of Excellence from the Harold F. Holtz Municipal Training Institute. He serves on the Kennesaw State University Citizen Advisory Board and is involved in the Kennesaw Business Association, as well as the Cobb Chamber of Commerce Chairman’s Club and Honorary Commanders Class of 2009.

“We appreciate Mayor Dunaway’s service to ARC and we wish him well said Sal Olens, Chairman, ARC Board of Directors. “I’ve known Mayor Mathews for years and I believe he can make a difference for ARC and to the region.”
