The Notice of Privacy Practices is a legal document that states how medical information about our patients may be used and disclosed and about how patients can get access to this information.
As an essential part of our commitment to our patients, MetroAtlanta Ambulance Service maintains the privacy of certain confidential healthcare information about a patient, known as Protected Health Information or PHI. We are required by law to protect a patient's healthcare information and to provide the patient with a written Notice of Privacy Practices.
The Notice outlines our legal duties and privacy practices in respect to a patient's PHI. It not only describes our privacy practices and the patient's legal rights, but lets the patient know, among other things, how MetroAtlanta Ambulance Service is permitted to use and disclose PHI about the patient, how the patient can access and copy that information, how the patient may request amendment of that information, and how the patient may request restrictions on our use and disclosure of the patient's PHI.
MetroAtlanta Ambulance Service is also required to abide by the terms of the version of this Notice currently in effect. In most situations we may use this information as described in this Notice without the patient's permission but there are some situations where we may use it only after we obtain the patient's written authorization, if we are required by law to do so.
We respect the patient's privacy and treat all healthcare information about our patients with care under strict policies of confidentiality that all of our staff are committed to following at all times.
If you have any questions about our Privacy Practices, please contact Allyson Shaffer, Privacy Officer, at 770-693-8483.
