Special Event Medical Services

MetroAtlanta Ambulance is committed to providing the medical transportation needs in our community. Athletic events, association conferences, parades, road races, community festivals and other large crowds/gatherings require provisions for medical care at the event site. First Aid and/or EMS Services must be provided or at least arrange to be provided by the organizing agency. MetroAtlanta Ambulance Service’s professional special event staff has the experience to assist in planning for these large events.

Services Provided

Medical Bike Team

The Medical Bike Team is staffed by EMT-I special3 and EMT-Paramedics and is normally accompanied by an ALS Ambulance Unit and often the Medical Cart Team. The use of bicycles enables our Paramedics to safely and quickly navigate highly congested areas at outdoor events and provide immediate patient care in crowd situations where an ambulance might be delayed or not be able to access. The team is also useful in reaching patients in wooded or other area of rough terrain that are not easily accessible by motorized vehicles. The medics ride all-terrain bikes equipped with both basic and advanced life support equipment, which are capable of rendering critical patient care. The team members have constant communications with the event security and medical staff, the MAAS Communications Center and the responding ambulance crew via radio and mobile phone.

First Aid Stations

MetroAtlanta Ambulance can provide basic and advanced first aid services for special events. The MAAS Special Events Consult Team can assist you in planning for your First Aid Station needs including inventory of supplies needed, professional staffing required, location, permits and determining how many first aid stations will be needed based on the location and anticipated size of your event.

ALS Ambulance Medical Standby Team

MetroAtlanta Ambulance provides dedicated ALS Ambulance units to standby at special events. These units are staffed by an EMT-I and a Paramedic and carry all the equipment required to provide advance life support treatment and transport should an emergency occur during the event. The team members have constant communications with both the event staff and the MAAS Communications Center via radio and mobile phone.

Examples of events that have contracted for ALS Ambulance standby have included local town festivals, road races, sporting events and other large gatherings or corporate events.

special3
ALS Medical Cart Team

The Medical Cart Team is staffed by EMT-I and EMT Paramedics and used to compliment an ambulance standby and bike team at large gatherings The battery powered medical cart carries all the equipment required to provide basic or advanced life support treatment and transport to an onsite facility or waiting ambulance should an emergency occur during the event. The cart can travel up to 40 miles per hour and can be used at indoor facilities as well as outdoors. The Medical Cart Team enables Medics to quickly respond and transport patients in crowd situations where an ambulance response would be delayed or a normal ambulance vehicle could not access. The team members have constant communications with the event staff, the MAAS Communications Center and other responders via radio and mobile phone.

Examples of past events that have contracted for the Medical Cart Team to standby have included the Atlanta Pride Festival in Piedmont Park in Atlanta, GA, the PGA Tour Championship at East Lake Country Club, Annual 4th of July Town Festival in Marietta, Georgia, Boys and Girls Club “Whole Hawg Happenin”, the Atlanta Air Show at Dobbins Air Force Base.

Paramedic Coverage

MetroAtlanta Ambulance provides dedicated Paramedics to standby at special events. An EMT-I or Paramedic will bring the equipment required to begin providing life sustaining care or stabilize traumatic injuries should an emergency occur during the event. The Medics can also provide basic first aid as required. The Medics have constant communications with both the event staff and the MAAS Communications Center via radio and mobile phone. Paramedic Coverage is normally used when a transport ambulance service response is only minutes away and at indoor events where the environment/climate is controlled and the likelihood of serious-life threatening injuries are not as likely. Past events have included local Taekwondo Tournaments, Wrestling Tournaments, Business Expo’s, Conventions etc.

Television & Movie Production Medical

MetroAtlanta Ambulance can provide EMT’s, Paramedics, ambulance/first response vehicles, bike medics, our Medical Cart and other related EMS equipment as props for television commercial or movie productions in the greater-Atlanta area.
