Cobb County CERT Program Making a Difference

MetroAtlanta Ambulance Service partnered with Cobb County Emergency Management Agency five years ago to assist with training participants in the Community Emergency Response Training (CERT) program for Cobb County Residents.

The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program educates citizens about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their areas and trains them in basic disaster response skills such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. Using the training learned in the classroom and during exercises, CERT members can assist others in their neighborhoods or workplaces following events when professional responders are not immediately available to help.

MetroAtlanta Ambulance Operations Manager Dennis Westover stated, “We’ve enjoyed being a part of Cobb EMA’s CERT Training program. The citizens that take the time to serve on the CERT teams do it because they want to give back and help make our community a safe place to work, live and play. It’s a terrific program and I’m glad MetroAtlanta Ambulance plays a small role in its success.”
