MetroAtlanta Ambulance Service, a Marietta-based company that provides 9-1-1 ambulance services in the greater Atlanta area, today announced that local business executive and current Mayor of the City of Kennesaw-GA, Mark Mathews has joined the Metro Atlanta Ambulance management team as the Manager of Government Affairs.

“Mark’s background in owning and operating a small business along with his local government and community leadership experience is a great addition to our government affairs team”, said MetroAtlanta Ambulance President and CEO Pete Quinones. “The work we do is critical to the citizens we serve and the addition of Mark Mathews to our government affairs team will enable us to stay on top of local, state and federal issues that may affect the delivery of services to our customers. Mark possesses the leadership skills, experience and relationships to help manage our government affairs activities and we are excited to have him onboard.”

Metro Atlanta Ambulance is a locally owned company that has gained national recognition for its delivery of quality ambulance services and philanthropic work in the community. Mathews stated, “This is a great opportunity to join a recognized industry leader and I’m excited to be part of this dedicated group of professionals. It allows me the opportunity to utilize my experiences to help the company grow and enhance services to citizens and local governments throughout Georgia. Metro Atlanta has had great success in finding cost saving solutions for local governments wanting to lower their costs of delivering 9-1-1 ambulance services. I’ve dedicated my life to trying to help make life a little better for those around me and that’s what this company does everyday so it’s a perfect fit for me.”

In less than eight years, MetroAtlanta Ambulance has grown from 10 employees and two ambulances to a company with more than 60 vehicles and over 300 employees. The company is one of only 113 ambulance companies in the world to received accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services and has been recognized locally by the Cobb County Chamber of Commerce for five consecutive years as one of the county’s top-five small businesses of the year. In 2006, MetroAtlanta Ambulance was named Cobb County’s Small Business of the Year and in 2008 was recognized as the Region III EMS Service of the Year by Georgia’s State Office of EMS.
